Maybe I only need to write something to hammer the point into my brain.
Case in point, yesterday I wrote that I’ve been conflicted over purchasing a new television for a couple of years now.
Last night I bought one. Finally. Thanks, brain.
After setting it up I’m sort of pissed that I didn’t buy one sooner, after having turned off the fucking awful “smooth motion, anti-judder, soap opera effect” bullshit anyway.
Totally 100% happy with it.
Meanwhile, I’m thinking about buying a new car…

So, what did you get?

Some Vizio 42″ 3D thing with 3D that I’ll never use. After looking at everything on the market I came to the realization that I really just wanted something that worked “for now” rather than dump a whole bunch of money into something quite a bit more expensive that I’d replace later. I’ve been waiting for the OLED market to do something (anything) exciting and affordable – I figure I’ll probably buy into that once they start becoming a little more realistic with their pricing.
Until then, I’m 100% happy with what I got – no getting around it. If anything I wish I would have dropped the extra $150 and gone for the 55″ but the room may not be big enough for it without mounting it on the wall…and I currently don’t own a drill or feel much like putting holes into a wall that I don’t own (I’m an apartment dweller).

The 3D option is great when watching 2D BluRays – gives you really nice blacks. Enjoy your TV, Robert, you deserve it. Now, about the car…
P.S. Make sure that Zoe can’t pull the TV down on herself.
