Instagram’s new Terms of Service contains the following…
“To help us deliver interesting paid or sponsored content or promotions, you agree that a business or other entity may pay us to display your username, likeness, photos (along with any associated metadata), and/or actions you take, in connection with paid or sponsored content or promotions, without any compensation to you.”
I’m a capitalist and as such I expect to receive nothing for free. That said, given a choice between paying a couple of dollars for Instagram’s app and service vs. bending over to let them have their way with my content, I would have gladly opted for the former.
Remember when Facebook bought Instagram and Zuckerberg promised they wouldn’t change a thing?
Pffft. Fucking liars.

I have no problem with not getting something for free, but I have lies.

Ironically though this app was never free. When their users view ad’s every time they use it, the developer is making money, so it’s a mutual thing. But the agreement also says they can use your children without your permission because the very act of your child using the app ‘assumes’ you gave permission (they assumed wrong!). This is right on the nose – and it’s hard to swallow but Instagram is now literally a dangerous application to have installed on a kids phone or device because they literally (by their interpretation); will traffic illegal images of children. See what Instagrams lawyers are not telling anyone is that someone who is underage cannot enter to an agreement because they may not understand what they are doing and that maybe the kid was cohersed into installing Instagram because Apple says its super popular. LOL This lawyering works both ways.
