I’m mostly a Mac user these days but in truth I’m still in the “I don’t give a fuck” camp rather than an all-out douchie OS X fanboy. That said, my “upgrade” to Windows 8 a few months back rendered my rather pricey Sony VAIO laptop useless as far as I was concerned, what with Windows 8 being a completely dysfunctional and unintuitive piece of shit and all.
And Microsoft seemed to think it was necessary to wipe out my VAIO’s system recovery partition upon installing Windows 8 as well, I suspect because no one would actually use their “upgrade” otherwise.
I was pissed. I wasn’t about to shell out another $130 to buy Windows 7 again, particularly for a laptop that I only use about 20% of the time. Thanks a fucking lot, Microsoft.
Then it dawned on me this morning that the hard drive I’m using in the aforementioned VAIO laptop is not the one it left Sony HQ with, I had upgraded it to an SSD a few months back.
I dug out my Acronis TrueImage DVD, performed a drive image mirror, and….voila.
