I’m saddened, but seldom surprised, when somewhat mediocre ideas (we’re supposed to call them “startups”) don’t last – and I’d be lying if I said I didn’t see the demise of these two Big Ideas coming ages ago…
Hipster – Because the world didn’t need Yet Another Fucking Photo Sharing App, even if they were calling them “postcards.”
EveryBlock – Your neighborhood news, well, when it worked properly anyway…which it seldom (if ever) did for me.

I thought it was a great concept, don’t get me wrong, but it never gave me “news” so much as it gave me a whole slew of worthless information that was anything BUT news.
I figured the NBC acquisition would help, add some money to the development coffers and all that, but it never seemed to get any better. It really felt like they bought it just to say they bought it.
